Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, Epic Games, and others are founding the Metaverse Standards Forum, an umbrella group for VR / AR and other tech standards.
🧐 Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, Epic Games (+ more) announced that they have founded an metaverse open standards group. But what's this? Aside from some odd inclusions (e.g., Wayfair, IKEA), other notable names — from Apple and Roblox to The Sandbox and Decentraland — were conspicuously omitted. With (in our humble opinion) major players missing...we're wondering just how open these standards will turn out after all.
Experts are split about the likely evolution of a truly immersive “metaverse.”
Pew Research released a deep-dive report, The Metaverse in 2040. This is a nice and meaty one, so we recommend that you find a quiet space, take a seat in a comfy armchair, and pop on those reading spectacles to focus and absorb the insights provided on the evolution of the metaverse.
