Recently, Meta announced a YoY decline in revenue (their metaverse unit alone has lost $5.7B); leadership is growing cantankerous; and the U.S. government is cracking down and intervening on their developmental efforts. You can't help but wonder...is it all worth it? Are they playing a losing game? If so, what are they willing to lose in this race towards the future? Last week, the Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3 (OMA3) was announced...and one of our Parcel people, Dave Carr, was the first to dig into the details.

You can think of OMA3 as the 'United Nations' or 'The Avengers' (if you're a dreamer like us 🦸) of the open metaverse.

Several prominent Web3 names have joined the standards development effort, led by blockchain and game developer Animoca Brands.
