🥽 Heads up — mixed reality is coming: Last year at Meta Connect, Zuck dropped a bombshell when he announced that Facebook would be changing their name to Meta. One year later, the headline announcement was more expected — the much-maligned company revealed their anticipated Meta Quest Pro, a high-end VR/mixed reality headset that'll retail for a cool $1,500. Let's unpack the news.

▪️ The device will start shipping out this month.

▪️ New features include full-color passthrough, which uses four cameras on the outside of the device to capture and display the space outside of the headset to users wearing the device. Mixed reality experiences will come to life like never before, powered by significant hardware upgrades.

▪️ Given the price point, it's positioned as a productivity device and enterprise tool for businesses looking to optimize their work experience. However, that comes with a battery life of 1-2 hours, which...isn't great.

📦 In the grand scheme of commerce, $1,500 is a small price to pay for increased productivity, job satisfaction, and savings on office rent. Beyond business cases, eager early adopters are going to have a field day as they pioneer AR and mixed reality. That being said, the price point of the hardware speaks for itself — we're awfully early, and mass adoption is still several iterations away.
