When we set out to launch this competition, we had one goal in mind: celebrate members of the creator community who are helping build a metaverse that is open, inclusive, and driven by innovation and curiosity.

Our esteemed panel of judges was blown away by the entries, and the competition was heated — one of the submission categories quite literally came down to a tiebreaker.

👩‍🎤 The best of both worlds. Miley Cyrus has always been a friend to world-hopping. The Disney pop sensation, with her company Smiley Miley Inc., is about to turn plenty of dials upside down. She just registered her name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, covering virtual apparel, energy drinks, entertainment services, virtual currency management software, virtual sporting goods, and more.

📦 Miley's been metaverse-involved since her performance in Gucci Town earlier this year. This move is smart on her part. Touché, Team Miley. 🤌

🧍What if this was all just a simulation? Gallium Studios, founded by Will Wright (The Sims creator) and Lauren Elliot, just raised $6M to develop blockchain-based memory simulation game Proxi and continue chipping away at VoxVerse, the NFT-powered metaverse for Gala Games' VOX Collectibles.

📦 This duo is sure to do good for the player experience in gaming — an obvious, yet neglected, priority when it comes to game design. We're excited to see how Proxi might fit in the wider blockchain gaming landscape. Although we can't give Gallium any brownie points on the interoperability front just yet, we're hoping Unity's involvement will bring this crucial open metaverse concept into the equation.
