🐵 Break on through in 2023. The Otherside is undoubtedly the most-hyped metaverse project this year, accounting for 75% of all virtual real estate sales in Q3. Now, in an exclusive interview with NFT thought leader Punk6529, Yuga Labs' co-founder Greg Solano confirmed that users will be able to "access the persistent world in 2023."
▪️ Interoperability will be a driving force, presenting Yuga with an opportunity to leverage their incredible range of NFT IP, from Bored Apes to CryptoPunks. Solano pointed to Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers as an influence on the way he views the metaverse, and the game's ability to bring multiple worlds together into one.
▪️ He touched upon Meta's ongoing metaverse efforts, noting that while Zuckerberg has been focused on hardware, Yuga wants to create a social space.

🎮 Axie finite. Nearly 21.5M AXS tokens (approx. 8% of the total supply) were unlocked and distributed to private investors and advisors earlier this week. Holders of AXS have reacted from a place of fear that these recipients will liquidate their holdings following the distribution.
▪️ As a result, AXS was down 94.8% from its all-time high of $164.90 in November 2021.
▪️ 2.16M AXS tokens will be going into the pockets of private investors who originally purchased them for $0.08 in 2020.
▪️ Despite its downturn, AXS is worth $9.17 as of the time of writing this newsletter...which means these private investors could cash in at a cool 11,362% profit!
🏖️ The hottest spot in the virtual playground: The Sandbox. Why is the Sandbox winning? There's been no shortage of 🔥 partnerships, and the grind behind the release of The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 is finally showing its success in numbers.

📚 Learn The Metaverse

In the metaverse, virtual land is for sale. But who's buying?
🎨 Creator Spotlight (Buildathon Ed.)
Builder: decentralize
Background: Architect
Category: Music Venue
Entry Name: The Finger Dome
Q: Describe your conceptual process.
A: I took a layered approach. Music can be heard in the streets (where the musician and listeners are on the same level); you can host a rock or rap concert (with an elevated stage); or similar to an airport terminal/symphony hall’s, entrances and exits are separated and each spot has a different performative outcome. There are spatial-political elements at play here (e.g., a front row, balcony, separate entrances for performers), but those are architectural references and not intended to convey any kind of hierarchy. The parameters ultimately prompted me to design a semi-transparent structure, allowing users to easily recognize it and enjoy the space while passing through.
Q: What’s an aspect of your build that might go unnoticed by the untrained eye?
A: I find domes to be fascinating and a monumental starting point for the structure. It was an interesting intellectual exercise to make the dome lighter in a software landscape. I decided to stretch the form like a finger, since sound data travels from the brain to the ears via the fingers...
Q: Favorite part of the Buildathon?
A: Having never done any sort of design work in Decentraland before, there were some tricks I had to pick up on quickly, such as a magical feature called “colliders” or the interface of the DCL Builder. From the initial concept to the time I am writing this, I can safely say that I have had a truly extraordinary experience, and I am grateful to all those who contributed to this wild ride.
