NFT sales soar to new heights*. According to DappRadar, NFT sales volume in February reached levels not seen since last May, when Terra’s collapse brought down the crypto market and everything connected to it. Take that with a grain of salt, however – the spike can largely be attributed to Blur, a marketplace that has recently overtaken OpenSea by financially incentivizing traders to trade exclusively (and frequently) on their platform. Blur has generated recent headlines amidst allegations of wash trading.

Electronic Arts and Sony alum reveal Avalon. Web3 gaming startup Avalon Corp announced a $13 million fundraising round as they continue to build Avalon, an Unreal Engine 5-powered game with MMO and metaverse elements. The team has deep credentials in the gaming and tech industries, and a commitment to building a AAA universe that focuses on interoperability and whose growth is fueled by developers.

Under the pilot program, Spotify premium members who hold exclusive artist NFTs (in this case, for UK band Kingship) can link their crypto wallet to access curated playlists. Time will tell if this program expands to other countries and artists.

AI will sell you your next car. First they came for your husband, and now ChatGPT is threatening to replace car salespeople. Automotive manufacturers Kia and Fiat have already started testing applications of AI to help facilitate purchasing decisions and create more efficient communications channels between dealers and consumers. The tests are still in their earliest days – and it’ll be a while before people prefer virtual interactions over IRL – but we’ve seen this movie enough times to know how it ends…
